Foundation for Health Care Improvement (FHCI) was established on 19th January 2006 to research and share best practice in healthcare management and patient service to improve health care in Pakistan.
Working within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology at Mayo Hospital in Lahore, FHCI has created a comprehensive patient survey to measure patients' views of their care and is rolling out the VistA electronic medical record (EMR) system to reduce the need for paper-based processes. In pursuit of the goal of improving patient care across Pakistan, FHCI is working to create national disease registries to measure health outcomes for common Orthopaedic conditions.
FHCI was founded by Prof Syed M Awais (Chairman, Dept of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology, Mayo Hospital and Former Pro Vice Chancellor of King Edward Medical University in Lahore Pakistan). Supporting him are Anthony Perry (Chief Executive Officer), Ghias-ud-Din (General Sectary), Mr. Akhtar Ali (Joint Sectary), Muhammad Mubashar Bashir (Treasurer) among others who are working on a voluntary basis.
